Therapy in Austin, TX

We live in an addictive society where we are often encouraged to behave addictively. These behaviors can manifest financially, by shopping, spending, debting, or underearning, Or we can become addicted to work, television, overeating, and, of course, drugs and alcohol.

These addictions must be addressed to become the individuals we want to be. Research has shown that 12 step programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Al Anon appear to have been the most effective for most alcoholics and addicts to maintain abstinence from addictive behaviors; therefore, I often encourage my clients to participate in these groups. In addition to addiction issues, I work with depression, anxiety disorders, couples, and groups.

I have been trained in the Pia Mellody/Meadows model of Post Induction Therapy which is an extremely effective yet gentle therapy model for healing childhood and family trauma. My counseling philosophy has grown out of this model, which recognizes how crucial it is for us to address family issues. By working through them we discover our true selves and how to have healthy and rich relationships.

The personal growth journey involves our bodies, minds, and spirits, and each is addressed in therapy with me. My approach is respectful, gentle, and warm, and at times directive. I utilize a variety of approaches including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic psychotherapy, and goal-directed therapy. I love helping the whole person heal, grow, and gain insight during the journey towards a healthier emotional life.
